1st Anniversary

One year ago today, I married the love of my life, Garrod Evan Huebner.  I can’t believe an entire year has gone by since our wedding.  It really seems like just yesterday I was walking down the aisle with my dad, getting annoyed by our very long-winded chaplain, dancing a choreographed first dance to “For Once In My Life” and having a blast with my friends, family, and new husband.  I can’t believe it’s been a year since I was Adrienne Fulton, the name I had for 28 years of my life.  (My mom still claims to be a little surprised every time she hears “Adrienne Huebner” on my voicemail, but I think I’ve finally got it down.)

To celebrate our anniversary, Garrod and I had brunch this morning at Green Pastures, the lovely place where we tied the knot on May 31st, 2008.  We ate way too much delicious food, drank some of their famous milk punch, and talked about where we see ourselves on our second anniversary a year from now (hopefully in a new house, a successful photography business, perhaps a baby on the way, and celebrating our anniversary somewhere exciting like Greece or Italy).  (Not that Green Pastures isn’t exciting… because, IT IS.)

Here we are at brunch this morning:

To Garrod:  Happy 1st Anniversary!  I love you so much and consider myself so blessed to have you in my life.  You are an amazing husband – so kind, loving, generous, and thoughtful.  You make me smile and laugh more than anyone.  I can’t wait to grow old and disgusting with you!  (Inside joke.)

For those of you who don’t tune into my blog to witness my cheesy love letters (sorry!), here are some photos of the uber cool and sweet Kate, who just graduated from Baylor University.  I’ve known Kate since she was a wee little one (her big sis, Sarah, is one of my best buds) and it blows my mind that she is a college graduate already!  Congratulations, Kate!

As you can tell, Kate’s a pretty tough biker chick:

That’s all for today.  Have a great week!

a mother/daughter weekend

My mom and I just returned from a “girls’ weekend” in bustling Kyle, Texas where we stayed at the delightful Inn Above Onion Creek. I enjoy spending time with my mom no matter what we’re doing, but this weekend was particularly lovely because it involved some of my favorite things… a trip to the spa, good food and wine, incredible sunsets, rocking chairs, great conversation, sleeping in late, and reading (I rotated between the the two extremes of People magazine and Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth). Here are some photos from our weekend:

The beautiful Mandola Winery was a short 5-minute drive from the Inn.

In the tasting room, we sipped on 6 varieties of Mandola wine.  Here I am contemplating a glass of Dolcetto.  According to the menu, “red raspberry and cherry reach the nose and palate simultaneously bringing a sweet smile of satisfaction.” (Photo courtesy of Beth Fulton – a.k.a. my mom.)

Back at the Inn, we enjoyed a Texas hill country sunset.  My beautiful mom:

We had a great time and I would highly recommend The Inn Above Onion Creek anytime you’re looking to relax and get away from it all.  I’m already plotting a trip back there with Garrod!

xoxo,
Adrienne
