I bet you didn’t know that I began training for my career in photography at the ripe old age of 5. At that point, my obsession was my parents’ Polaroid instant camera. To me, the instant gratification I received (after a little unnecessary blowing on and flapping of the photo) was mind-boggling and delightful.
As you can see, I was already experimenting with artistic angles and crops:

My mother claims she and my dad were dressed in “costume” for a fake prom party:

Then, circa 1987, my grandparents gave me my very own camera: a pink 110 similar to this beauty:

(Wow – If that doesn’t make me feel ancient, I don’t know what would!)
I’ve been trying to find an old photo of my 6 year old self with my fancy camera, but have thus far, been unsuccessful. I did, however, come across some of my pink 110 photographic masterpieces and have posted them here for your viewing pleasure.
I was a big believer in props. Like hanging a cabbage patch doll by the hood of its pink robe on the wall of a playhouse:

Again with the creative cropping. Love the blue eyeshadow, Mom:

I obviously had a gift for capturing raw emotion:

I had the “rule of thirds” down pat. Again with the doll as prop:

DIGGER DOG!:

Thanks to Mom, Dad, Lance, Lauren, Audra, Brian, Uncle Ron, Ashley, and Digger for being such stellar models. Maybe we should do a “now and then” feature with each of you (except for Digger, RIP.). I’ll have to save that for a later post.
Stay tuned for modern era photographs to be posted soon.
xoxo,
Adrienne
